About MCAA - North> Committees

1.      Canadian Masonry Contractors Association / Canadian Masonry Design Centre

Activities: - Attend meetings of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association and report back to our membership on initiatives and happenings that the national association is involved in.
The MCAA North is a venture partner in the Canadian Masonry Design Centre which provides technical assistance and expertise to contractor members and the design community in support of masonry.

2.      Union

Local #1, Alberta. International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #92, Construction and General Workers’ Union (Labourers)

Activities: Represent unionized contractor members in collective bargaining committees and may act as trustees in directing pension plan funds.

3.      Apprenticeship

• Provincial Apprenticeship Committee (PAC) Chair: Chris Ambrozic, Scorpio Masonry Ltd., Members: Marco Annich, Marcon Masonry Ltd.

Activities: direct apprenticeship education for the masonry trade. Provide training modules to educational institutions for delivery to apprentice trainees.

• Local Apprenticeship Committee (LAC) Chair: Chris Ambrozic, Scorpio Masonry Ltd., Members: Shane Frahm, Bond Masonry Ltd.

Activities: Represent local concerns and recommend actions to the PAC.

4.      Skills Canada

Chair: Warren Kowalchuk, Image Masonry Contracting Ltd. ???

Activities: Coordinate with the provincial Skills Canada Committee. Organize and promote the masonry trade at the annual Provincial Skills Competition.

5.      Budget Committee

Activities: Review and bring recommendations to the membership related to the MCAA North financial status and commitments

6.      MCAA North Christmas Party

Activities: Organization of the annual Christmas function and coordination of donations for Santa’s Anonymous.

7.      Golf Tournament

Activities: Organization of the annual North – South joint golf tournament in coordination with the MCAA South chapter.
